PayPal Privacy Policy

Overview

This project’s focus was designing the PayPal application to be more accessible to users, and make their privacy policy more clear and readily available, to build trust.

Rationale

My goal for this design was to create a sense of choice among the user, and make them feel in control through the process of using the PayPal app to improve their experience and create assurance, whilst also making it easy to digest and understand.

Research

I completed my research by viewing the PayPal privacy policy, and picking out the important details from each section of their policy to summarize into the carousel. By doing this, I was able to simplify the information in the privacy policy, and make it more readable for the user.

Analysis of User Flow

After my preliminary research, I analyzed the current user flow of the PayPal app, to see where I could insert my privacy policy feature within the existing user flow. I decided to add it in the data and privacy section, because most users will enter through this tab to try to find the privacy policy, as seen in multiple user tests.

UI Analysis and Matching

To make the feature fit into the existing design of the PayPal app, I conducted UI analysis and matching, to solidify my addition into the app more realistically.

Wireframes

Low Fidelity

I began designing my first round of wireframes, keeping my idea rough prior to user feedback.

Mid Fidelity

After testing, I edited aspects of the wireframes accordingly, before sending them in for a second round of user testing to further develop the idea.

Design Fixes (Low Fidelity)

Design Fixes (Mid Fidelity)

High Fidelity Wireframes

After all the fixes, I finally developed my final set of wireframes, which were ready to go into the prototyping phase of the process.

Prototyping

After the completion of my high-fidelity wireframes, I then began the process of creating them into a working Prototype, using AdobeXD.

Learning Outcomes

From the entire development of this process, I realized more in depth how important user testing is to get a final result that works for your users. There were things I would have never picked up on during both my rounds of user testing, and that would’ve reflected in the design. It is also worth noting that keeping bias out of your design throughout the process is extremely vital. Getting attached to one singular idea only leads to bad design.
